Yes, I was referring to email with those rules. I only allow one response per person for my domain name giveaways. People can post to my blog as much as they want. Anyway, thanks for asking.

If anyone else wants to get in on my free domain name giveaways then send me a note via my contact page and I can give you the details.

Hey,

Obviously I'm responder #1 and not #7 but I am just getting this started here.

Just a comment I think its an odd rule that "If you respond with the incorrect post title then your response will not count and you may not respond again."

It seems that rule would suggest people should not respond to your other blog postings.

However, after re-reading the directions by "respond" did you mean directly by email?

Either way, cheers.

I agree with Dan. Once the domain expired or was renewed ALL claim to the domain was lost by the buyer up until then you still went beyond most sellers on eBay. Sorry but the buyer is out of luck.

I would say that you did the right thing in not issuing a refund. This of course can sometimes be a difficult decision, but if you issue a refund to that one person, that goes completly against your terms of sale, and if you do that, then that means that you don't stick to your terms of sale. This could potentially backfire on you, and you could get many people purchasing domains from you, and then maybe they are just to lazy to take the ten seconds to confirm it, so they just make up excuses to try to get their money back later, or maybe they just have regrets on the purchase. I'm not saying that this particular buyer's reasons are lie's, but it does seem a little fishy...On another note, it's almost a year and a half later! I mean if you brought back an item you bought at Walmart a year and a half later expecting your money back, they would look at you a little funny. Not to mention that you sent multiple messages explaining that they must accept the transfer, WITH an acknowledgment from the buyer.

This may have been a difficult decision for you, but all in all, I believe you made the correct choice in not issuing a refund, and if any scenario like this were to come up again, I would advise to do the same as you have already done.

I hope this helps!

I have bought from you on several occasions and always had a positive experience.

I think its silly that a buyer should expect a refund after such a time period.

The day that the renewal date arrived and the domain name would be eligible to expire (assuming you told them the date, which I assume you did), well that was the date that the buyer lost the right for a refund. You happened to choose to renew it, but that does not matter.

Had you let it expire, the buyer would have been out of the domain name as well. I don't think that the fact that you benefited from reselling it should hurt your stance on maintaining your clearly described policy.

While my heart goes out to someone who was dealing with an illness of a loved one, giving them a refund is not required based on the circumstances you described. If you do choose to give a refund I would quite honestly consider it charity over a required business practice. Of course there is nothing wrong with giving to charities, in fact I suggest you donate as often as you can!

If you are considering a donation why not ask the previous customer what their favorite charity is and give the donation to that officially and legally set up charity. That would certainly be a unique solution!

Good-luck! Keep the great domain names up!
